With the rise of Taiwanese Hokkien in both music and film scenes, a legend you must know is Chen Ming-Chang. Founder of the Taiwan Yueqin Folk Song Association, Chen has been crafting music for over 40 years. His work spans various movie soundtracks, including "Dust in the Wind" (1986), "The Puppetmaster" (1993), Hirokazu Koreeda's first feature film "Maborosi" (1995), and Amr Gamal's "The Burdened" (2023).

Renowned for using the iconic yueqin (moon guitar) as his primary instrument, Chen's discography boasts over 30 albums and 100 songs. His music, deeply rooted in Taiwanese opera and folk music, explores the land and identity of Taiwan, giving voice to its unique musical heritage.

Documentary filmmaker Lin Cheng-Sheng (Among Us, 2021) follows Chen Ming-Chang's journey on stage and backstage, capturing candid conversations that explore the history of Chen’s career spanning over four decades, from movie soundtracks and stage theatre to his personal musical journey. Honest and down-to-earth, independent yet traditional, this documentary invites you to experience the bohemian, daring, and free spirit of Taiwanese music.

過去20年來，台語在音樂和電影界的崛起，其中一位不能不提的傳奇人物就是陳明章。作為台灣月琴民歌協會的創辦人，陳明章創作音樂已有四十餘年，發行了超過30張專輯和100首歌曲。他的音樂深深扎根於台灣歌仔戲和民間音樂，探索台灣的土地和身份，為台灣獨特的音樂遺產發聲。

導演林正盛，此次將鏡頭轉向自己的好鄰居兼音樂大師，追隨陳明章的台前幕後音樂生涯和生活足跡，並專訪了吳念真、是枝裕和、伍佰、蕭菊貞、黃妃等資深電影人及音樂人。陳明章創立了具有時代標誌的「黑名單工作室」，並譜寫了侯孝賢和是枝裕和的經典電影配樂，以及溫馨的〈伊是咱的寶貝〉，其數十載的創作生涯也成為台灣近代歷史的縮影。
